Just in time for the gardening and landscaping season, Husqvarna Australia are proud to launch the successful international pay-per-use pilot “Tools for You” in Tuggerah, NSW.
Tools for You is a connected tool shed, managed by an app that enables home owners’ easy rental access to professional battery powered garden tools. From October 29th, 2020 Tools for You will be available in Tuggerah, NSW offering seven different tools at a price range starting from $45.00 per day rental.
Tools for You is Husqvarna’s take on the sharing economy. First tested in Sweden, the pilot was well received, and an updated concept will now be piloted in United States, Germany, France, Sweden and Australia. Starting in October 2020 a Tools for You tool shed has been placed at The Mower Megastore, 148 Pacific Highway, Tuggerah NSW, enabling users in the Central Coast region access to the most frequently used garden tools.
“Based on the positive feedback and valuable insights from the Swedish pilot called “Husqvarna Battery Box” we are now scaling up the initiative to Tuggerah to collect more learnings. The advantages of this type of pay-per-use are multi-fold; easy access to professional garden equipment at a low cost, people save storage space for equipment rarely used, and there is an array of sustainability benefits”, says Phil Esterman, Product Manager Robotics and Digital Solutions, Husqvarna Australia.
The concept is simple. Tools for You is a smart, unattended box with seven lockers that store professional battery powered garden care products available for rent, e.g. chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and brush cutters.
After completing registration in the Tools for You app, users can book garden tools for as many days as they like. The app guides you to find the nearest Tools for You box and directs you to which locker where the reserved product is kept. While standing by the box, the app connects automatically with the correct lock via Bluetooth, and the user can unlock it with the push of a button. After the products are returned, a Husqvarna Dealer will be notified to service the products, ensuring that products are in good condition with tested performance and fully charged batteries. The app also includes product manuals and how-to-videos.
