Chainsaw storage tips

Before storing your Husqvarna chainsaw for the winter or over a longer period, it must be cleaned and prepared for storage.

Here are some essential steps to follow:

Drain the fuel system

  • To prevent fuel from leaking from your Husqvarna chainsaw during the storage period, drain the fuel from the product's tank into an appropriate container. Do so in a well-ventilated area.
  • Clean the tank and let the chainsaw run on idle until it stops on its own.

Dismantle and clean the chainsaw

Take off the chainsaw chain and guide bar. Clean them and apply protective oil.

Clean the entire chainsaw thoroughly up to the cylinder ribs and the air filter.

How to clean an air filter

Drain the oil system

Oil will leak from your Husqvarna chainsaw as a result of air pressure and temperature fluctuations.

Drain the oil from the product and dispose of it properly.

Store a chainsaw without a battery

When storing your battery chainsaw, make sure to take the battery out of the product.

This will prevent the battery from draining quicker during storage.

Store a chainsaw in a dry environment

Store your chainsaw in a dry, well-ventilated area away from the elements.

Avoid outdoor storage.

If the fuel tank is empty, you can store your chainsaw vertically or even hang it up.

Store a chainsaw away from direct sunlight

Store your Husqvarna chainsaw away from direct sunlight to prevent UV damage to the product's body.

Protect a chainsaw from dust

Store your Husqvarna chainsaw in a way that prevents dust accumulation. You can wrap it in old sheets or towels.
