How-To-Guides

Using the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app

Using the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app, you can for example let your Google Calendar events park your Automower® robotic mower on top of the normal mowing schedule, or park your mower overnight to protect nocturnal animals visiting your garden after sunset.

Below you will find information on how to use and activate the Smart Connections.

Note: When you connect for the first time, an IFTTT account will be created and connected to your Automower® Connect account. If you already have an IFTTT account you can use your existing. For more information, see Getting started with the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app.

Available Smart Connections

To access the available Smart Connections in the app, tap the menu button and select Smart Home. Scroll and select the connection you want to use.

The following Smart Connections are available in the Automower® Connect app:

Park mower if weather forecast predicts frost or heavy rain

SmartHome_weather2 Screenshot

Your mower can handle a little rain, but your lawn will most probably look better if not cut during heavy rain or frost. That is why we offer a Smart Connection that parks your mower during heavy rain and frost.

To enable the connection, tap the Connect Weather slider.

Now there are a few things you need to do:

  • Select which mower you want to control (if you have more than one mower connected to your Automower® Connect account).
  • Select which geographical area the weather forecast should be valid for.
  • Tap Save.

When this is done, your mower will be parked each time the weather forecast meets the specified conditions.

To disable the connection so that it does not park your mower even though the weather forecast meets the specified conditions, simply disconnect it by tapping the slider again.

Which weather forecast will make the mower park?

The mower will be parked only if the weather forecast meets the following conditions in the selected area:

  • Frost
  • Rain
  • Showers
  • Heavy rain
  • Temperature drops below 4 degrees Celsius.
  • Temperature raises above 36 degrees Celsius.

For more information on the weather service used, see Weather Underground.

Park mower with a Google Calendar event

Automower 305

If you know that you have one or several upcoming events in your garden when you want your mower to be parked, such as during a garden party, you can now add the event to your Google calendar and use it to keep your mower parked during the event. Here is how:

To enable the connection, tap the Connect Google slider.

When setting up this Smart Connection for the first time you have to log in to your Google account. You will also have to allow IFTTT access to your Google Calendar.

Once you have connected your Google account there are only a few things left to do:

  1. Specify your Automower® park keyword, that is, the word or phrase that will make your mower park when found in your calendar.
  2. Select which calendar to use.
  3. Select which mower you want to control (if you have more than one mower connected to your Automower® Connect account).
  4. Tap Save.

Now your mower will park automatically each time an event using your park keyword is scheduled in your calendar.

To disable the Smart Connection so that it does not park your mower even though the calendar entry matches your park keyword, simply disconnect it by tapping the slider again.

For more information on the calendar service used, see Google Calendar.

Notify your neighbour when your mower needs attention

Once you have connected your Google account there are only a few things left to do:

  1. Select which mower you want to control (if you have more than one mower connected to your Automower® Connect account).
  2. Enter the email addresses to the people you want to set up as recipients of the notification, separated with a space or comma, for example name1@example.com,name2@example.com.
  3. Tap Save

Now the list of people you added as recipients will receive an email notification when your mower has an error, including information about the error and the mower position.

To disable the Smart Connection so that it does not send any notifications when your mower has an error, simply disconnect it by tapping the slider again.
