Meet one of our youngest champions, Anton Petersson, 19 years

Anton is part of the team of competitors who are under 24 years of age. See what he has to say about his chances at this year’s World Logging Championships (WLC).

1. What are your chances to win a medal at WLC?

I will win WLC, if not this year, I know I will win another year. But this year I expect to come home with at least a few medals.

2. How do you prepare?

I practice the 5 disciplines in the same order they are arranged in the competition, to get a “realistic” training. It’s all or nothing. I also get a lot tips and support from our coach Lars Strandell and Finish champion Jukka Perämäki.

3. How much do you practice?

Since February, I have practiced almost every day. Right after work and dinner I go out and practice, approx. 3 hours per day. The last four weeks before the competition I will take it up a notch.

The 33rd World Logging Championships will begin in Lillehammer, Norway on August 2, with more than 100 loggers participating this year for the World Logging Championship title. New for this round of the WLC is a seperate women's class, in which one woman from each country can compete. Women still have the possibility to compete in the regular elite and junior class.

Husqvarna will once again be participating with our competitors using the 576 XP, 572 XP and 372 XP championship chainsaws to compete in their challenges!

As always, the WLC will be divided into different individual disciplines plus the exciting team relay race, which are inspired by the same procedures as the professionals exercise in their everyday work. These include tree felling, fitting another chain, bucking by combined cuts, precision bucking and limbing.
