What actually happens at installation?

It is possible to do the installation yourself, following the instructions in the operator’s manual. It takes 2-5 hours, depending on the size and complexity of your lawn. We recommend you have the local dealer install the unit. They have the experience and training to do it in the most efficient manner. Most dealers offer an installation service, although it is not included in the recommended retail price.

How does it work first time round on long grass?

If the grass is very long and thick you should raise the cutting height and then gradually reduce it to the preferred level. In very extreme conditions the lawn may need to be cut by a conventional mower before Automower® takes over.

How does it know it has covered the whole lawn?

By mowing in a seemingly random pattern, in various directions, you will get a carpet-like lawn, throughout your garden. In 20 years of testing it has also proven to be the most reliable way to cover the whole lawn, leaving no uncut grass. The reliability and precision of other technologies necessary for systematic mowing is not sufficient to offer an improvement over the loop wire and random based system, used by Automower® today.

Does it work in the rain?

Automower® will cut grass in most types of weather, and is designed to handle wet conditions. It is however recommended to bring the mower inside in extreme weather conditions, such as torrential rain, storms and thunder.

Can it work at night?

With its remarkably low decibel level, Automower® can easily be at work in the garden, day or night, without disturbing you or your neighbors.

Does it go to the edges properly?

Automower® covers the whole lawn within the boundary wire, leaving no uncut grass. However, we do recommend you to complement your lawn edges with a weed trimmer or edger to get a perfect finish.

How does it deal with narrow paths?

Automower® is guided by boundary wires around your garden. Within that area it moves in irregular patterns so that there are no lines or traces of mowing in the grass. It can handle narrow passages down to 60 cm widths, depending on the model used.

How does it deal with uneven surfaces?

Due to the large driving wheels, Automower® can cope with uneven surfaces very well. It also handles slopes up to 45% (24°) incline. Automower® is small enough to follow the curvature of a rough lawn. It will not scalp the mounds or ridges like many larger mowers.

What if there are small objects on the lawn?

To maximize the life of the blades, stones, leaves, sticks and other small objects should be raked or collected regularly. They will not damage the mower, but the blades will wear faster. Tree branches may also damage or bend the blades resulting in a poor cutting performance.

What effect does it have on the environment?

Since Automower® runs on batteries, it generates no direct emissions, and the actual energy consumption is very low. The running costs are only around $12 to $80 per season for the electricity consumed, depending on the size of the lawn, and the model used.

What’s the lifetime of the battery?

This depends on the area and set running time of the mower. If you run Automower® six months per year on an area of 800 m², your battery will last up to four seasons. To extend battery life, you should set the timer according to the size of your lawn. During colder months you can easily reduce the running time without losing performance.

Is it really safe around kids and pets?

Even though Automower® uses very low power, the blade can still harm fingers and toes, or a dog’s tail. A built-in safety feature means the blade will automatically stop if the mower is lifted up or turned over. The distance between the outer body and the blade tip is also extra-long to avoid feet or hands from accidently reaching the blades. Even so, we recommend parking the Automower® when pets or small children are playing on the lawn.

What about theft protection?

Husqvarna Automower® is protected from theft in several ways. A pin code is required for any intervention. An alarm will immediately sound if the code is ignored when the mower is stopped or lifted. It is useless when stolen, as it can't be matched to other charging stations. And when reported stolen, it will be red-listed in all support.

What about warranty and guarantees?

We guarantee the function of our products. Defective parts are repaired or replaced by authorized Husqvarna workshops during the warranty period.
