How to change cutting height on your Automower® robotic lawn mower

The cutting height of Husqvarna Automower® can be adjusted either electronically or manually depending on the model, with settings ranging from a minimum of 2 centimeters (0.8 inches) to a maximum of 6 centimeters (2.4 inches)

Automower® with electric cutting height adjustment

If your robotic lawn mower is equipped with electric cutting height adjustment, you can conveniently set the preferred cutting height via the Automower® Connect app or on the mower’s display:

In the Automower Connect app:

  1. Tap More in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Choose Cutting height.
  4. Use the slider to set your desired cutting height.
  5. Press Save.

On the mower’s display:

  1. Go to Menu > Cutting height (indicated by a symbol).
  2. Choose Cutting height.
  3. Select your preferred cutting height.

Note: The symbol for Cutting height may vary across different models.

Automower® with manual cutting height adjustment

Automower® Aspire R4, Automower® 305, 310 Mark II, and 315 Mark II only offer manual cutting height adjustment. Refer to our articles below to learn how to change cutting height on these models:

Setting the cutting height with AIM Technology

If your mower supports AIM Technology, refer to our detailed guide on How to set the cutting height when using AIM Technology

Setting the cutting height when using EPOSâ„¢ Technology

For EPOSâ„¢ boundary wire-free installations, you can assign different cutting heights to different work areas:

  1. In the Automower® Connect app, go to Map.
  2. Select a work area.
  3. Use the slider to set your desired cutting height.
  4. Press Save.
  5. Repeat for each work area as needed.

TargetHeight feature

Some Automower®  models offer the feature TargetHeight, which gradually lowers the cutting height from the maximum level to the specified cutting height during a period of 10 days. This is especially useful when installing new wire to avoid the wire from getting damaged by the mower, or at the start of the season to prevent grass damage. Remember, manual adjustments of the cutting height during this period will deactivate TargetHeight. You can enable this feature on the mower's display:

  1. Go to Menu and select Cutting height.
  2. Choose TargetHeight.
  3. Press OK to enable or disable the feature.

TargetHeight and AIM Technology

For Automower® models with AIM Technology, TargetHeight can be enabled in the Automower® Connect app:

  1. Open the app and navigate to Settings > Operation
  2. Select TargetHeight
  3. Press OK to enable or disable the feature.

TargetHeight and EPOSâ„¢ Technology

The TargetHeight feauture is not available for robotic lawn mowers with EPOSâ„¢ technology.

After a new installation or when the grass is long

For the first weeks after a new installation or when the grass is long, keep the cutting height at the heighest level to protect the loop wire and the grass. Gradually decrease the height each week until you reach your preferred level.

Troubleshooting Cutting height issues

Error messages like Cutting height blocked, Unexpected cutting height, Limited cutting height range and Cutting height problem often indicate that grass or other debris is caught in the cutting height adjustment or between the blade disc and chassis. To address these issues:

  1. Set the mower to OFF.
  2. Wear protective gloves.
  3. Inspect and clean the blade disc and the bellows around the cutting height mechanism.
