Q&A

Why do my grass trimmer and brushcutter start and then die?

While working with your grass trimmer or brushcutter, it can shut off unexpectedly. This could mean there are some issues with the products.

Grass trimmer and brushcutter start and then die

The first thing to check is if there is fuel in your product. Make sure that the grass trimmer or brushcutter are filled with fuel before starting them.

The next thing that can affect your grass trimmer and brushcutter is old fuel.
When storing your grass trimmer or brushcutter with fuel in them, fuel can become stale. This will result in the system getting clogged or restricted.

Fuel related failures are not warranty. The product would need to be serviced by a local authorized service centre.
Before storing your grass trimmer or brushcutter make sure that there is no fuel in it to prevent this sort of issue. Always use fresh fuel when starting your product.

If you still experience your grass trimmer or brushcutter starting and then dying, check the air filter. If the air filter is dirty or damaged, clean or replace it.

Another reason for your grass trimmer or brushcutter to start and then die can be that the spark arrestor is dirty or clogged. If this is the case, clean it with a wire brush.

Grass trimmer and brushcutter stall or die when turned sideways

If your grass trimmer and brushcutter die when turned sideways, it is usually because the fuel filter is held away from the fuel, as the position of the product changes. The fuel filter must be able to stay in the fuel as positions change.

Husqvarna grass trimmer and brushcutter are equipped with fuel lines of specified lengths and flexibility along with weighted fuel filters. This allows the filter to "follow" the fuel and remain submerged. It is important to always use the correct fuel line and fuel filter for your specific product. You can find this information in the operator's manual.

Also, your grass trimmer and brushcutter can die when turned sideways due to leakage or because the fuel lines need to be reset. In this case, please contact your local authorized dealer.
