Q&A

How does Husqvarna Fleet Services™ calculate my carbon footprint?

Husqvarna Fleet Services™ estimates the CO₂ emissions of a machine using data from actual machine usage in combination with emission factors specific for each machine.

Here is how we estimate the carbon footprint for our machines:

Petrol- or diesel-powered machines

Total Emissions = Rated Power [kW] * Fuel rate [g/kWh] * Fuel to CO₂ conversion Coefficient * Engine Hours

Burning 1 litre of petrol fuel releases 2.3 kg of CO₂ into the atmosphere.

Burning 1 litre of diesel fuel, releases 2.7 kg of CO₂ into the atmosphere.

Electric machines

Total Emissions = Rated Power [kW] * Engine hours/Efficiency factor * Country-Specific Emission Factor

The emission factor varies between countries depending on the sources for electricity in that country, for example, coal-based production versus use of renewable energy sources.
