How to keep the chain tight on the chainsaw

It is recommended that you always use the appropriate safety glasses and protective gloves before trying to adjust the chain on your chainsaw:

Make sure that the engine is off, and give the bar and chain time to cool down before attempting to adjust the chain tension.
Loosen the bar nuts while picking up on the bar and chain; use either a thumb wheel or a screwdriver to tighten the chain until there is no slack in the chain.
CAUTION: do not overtighten!
Continue to hold up the bar while you tighten the bar nuts.
